Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural and common emotional response to stress or perceived threats. It is a normal part of life and can even be helpful in certain situations, as it prepares our body and mind to deal with potential dangers. However, when anxiety becomes excessive, uncontrollable, and interferes with daily functioning, it may be classified as an anxiety disorder.

Anxiety disorders are a group of mental health conditions characterized by intense and persistent feelings of fear, worry, or unease. They can manifest in various forms, including generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and others.

Common symptoms of anxiety can include:

  1. Excessive worrying or feeling restless.

  2. Feeling on edge, irritable, or easily agitated.

  3. Difficulty concentrating or experiencing racing thoughts.

  4. Muscle tension, trembling, or feeling physically on edge.

  5. Sleep disturbances, such as trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or having restless, unsatisfying sleep.

  6. Rapid heart rate, shortness of breath, or chest tightness.

  7. Sweating, trembling, or experiencing hot flashes or chills.

  8. Gastrointestinal issues, such as stomachaches or nausea.

  9. Avoidance of certain situations or places due to fear or discomfort.
